SM3 X-Series

The high-performance robot that combines the productivity of a side-entry robot with a revolutionary versatility for this category. Its unprecedented architecture, solidly anchored to the ground, with strokes in all three directions, radically changes the paradigm of usage flexibility within the side-entry robot category. Its structure is bigger and stiffer than its little brother's, the SM2; it is equipped with a double beam and even longer strokes, which make it capable of running fast work cycles with higher payloads.

The sturdy and flexible side-entry robot for medium-high tonnage IMMs

SM3 X-Series is a side-entry robot recommended for large items on single and multi-cavity moulds, medium-tonnage IMMs.

Simply All-In-One

SM3 X-Series doesn’t require any external palletizing axis or related gripping system, typical of all traditional side-entry robots. Its long strokes in all the three axes, together with the built-in wrist, allow the robot to pick, place and palletize with a single gripping system sequentially. This way, programming and managing the robot is even simpler since we avoid the simultaneous coordination of an external palletizing axis.

Say good-bye to transfer issues between gripping systems

Transferring parts to different gripping systems is a very delicate process, especially in multi-cavity applications, where misalignments and piece-droppings are more frequent. By using a single gripping system it’s possible to avoid these inconveniences and the related possible downtimes and productivity loss.

Fast inversion of pick-up side

With traditional side-entry robots, the position of the palletization axis heavily limits the pick-up side on the fixed or moving surface of the press. The absence of a palletizing axis, combined with a tilting wrist, allows the SM2 Twin X-Series robot to quickly invert the pick-up side on the fixed or moving surface, allowing high levels of flexibility in the context of production with mould changes.

No more centering issues on different moulds and IMMs

Its long strokes on all axes translate into the best centering capacity and the possibility for the robot to be used with IMMs and moulds of different dimensions

Version with double transversal arm: even more functional

SM3 X-Series is also available with double transversal arm (SM3-D), so it can be used with particular stack moulds and make the difference in IML applications with reduced IMM's opening strokes.

Self-lubricating sliding blocks requiring no maintenance in the long run

SM3 X-Series is equipped self-lubricating sliding blocks with roll-by balls on carbon steel prismatic guides. Thanks to this system, the robot runs for more than 40,000 km without needing guides’ lubrication, thus minimizing both maintenance and machine downtimes.

Wrist featuring pneumatic C axis with maximum payload of 12 kg

The robot has a wrist with a pneumatic C axis that allows flat placement of parts picked up in the mould. It is possible to choose between two different programmed positions (vertical/horizontal). The maximum payload is 6 kg.
