The fast and flexible side-entry robot for medium-tonne presses

SM2 X-Series is a side-entry robot particularly indicated for fast single- and multi-cavity work cycles on medium-tonne presses.

Simply all in one

SM2 X-Series requires no external palletisation axles or their relative pick-up hands, typically present in traditional side-entry robots. Its long travels on all three axles, together with the built-in wrist, allow the robot to carry out all pick-up, drop-down and palletisation operations with a single hand, in a sequential manner. Programming and managing the robots is extremely simple, avoiding the parallel coordination of an external palletisation axle.

Say good-bye to issues involving transferring between pick-up hands

Transferring parts between different pick-up hands is a very delicate operation, especially in multi-cavity applications, and loss of alignment and piece-dropping may occur. The presence of a single pick-up hand eliminates this problem at the root, preventing possible downtimes and consequent loss of productivity.

Quick inversion of pick-up side

In traditional side-entry robots, the position of the palletisation axle strongly determines the pick-up side on the fixed or on the moving surface of the press. The absence of palletisation axles, together with a tilting wrist, allows the SM2 X-Series robot to quickly invert the pick-up side on the fixed or on the moving surface, resulting in high flexibility in productions with change of mould.

No more difficulty centring on different moulds and presses

The long travel on all three axles provides maximum centring capacity and the possibility to re-use the robot on presses and moulds of different dimensions.

Self-lubricating sliding blocks that require no maintenance in the long run

SM2 X-Series is equipped with self-lubricating sliding blocks with roll-by balls on carbon steel prismatic guides. This system allows them to work without the need to lubricate the guides for more than 40,000 km, therefore saving a lot in terms of maintenance and of machine downtime.

Wrist with pneumatic C axle, with a maximum capacity of 6 kg

The robot is equipped with a wrist with a pneumatic C axle that allows it to deposit parts picked from the mould on to a flat surface, by choosing from two programmed positions (vertical/horizontal). The maximum capacity is 6 kg.
